British Wadokai has foundations that were established in 1976, therefore, the direct unbroken lineage of British Wadokai and Kyokai Karate Club extend over 30 years. The Kyu grade syllabus has remained almost unchanged since the first introduction of Wado into the UK by Suzuki Tatsuo, 8th Dan, Hanshi in 1964 (this is the basis and foundation of British Wadokai & Kyokai Karate Club).

All Tai-Sabaki has remained intact, including Sanbon-gumite, Ohyo-gumite, and Kihon-gumite, Kata etc.. All these aspects are taught and promoted strongly within all British Wadokai Dojo through Standardisation Courses.

For the most able and committed there is the chance to join the Kyokai Squad and progress through to the British Wadokai Kata and Kumite squads to compete nationally. Ultimately, from the age of 13 you are afforded the opportunity to train at the weekly EKF satellite squad training sessions where you could be put forward to select and compete internationally for England.

Sensei Swift holds:

  • Enhanced CRB Certification & is fully conversant with all Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) legislation and legal requirements.
  • Club and Instructor Insurance.
  • Valid Designated First Aid Certification.
  • Dan Grade Registration through the EKF as a 7th Dan

and has been active in martial arts for over 44 years.
